Round 2 actions, weapons and a baby
Subject Round 2 actions
OOC: This time I am very pleased with the liberties you took with Mund. Freaking out that his brother got hurt by the dragon and trying to bring its wrath upon Mund is exactly correct.
IC:
Mund sees the baby dragon attack the rest of the party, all clumped together. Mund had known that being so close together was a bad idea. He had considered bringing this up, but once that uppity orc gets an idea in that head of his, ain't nothing else getting in there.
If it were just Harp and his toadies getting blasted, it wouldn't be that big a deal, but his little brother Alley is there with them. Mund summons the spirit of the bear totem and feels his body filled with the strength and health of a raging bear. He lets out a yell and starts waving his arms and taunting the dragon. "Come here, you little lizard and let me step on you! You wouldn't stand a chance against a human warrior, you vermin!"
Mund has no idea if dragons can even speak common, but has fun taunting the dragon anyway.
OOC:
OK, here's what Mund is doing:
If the rest of the party continues to advance toward the dragon, Mund will do so as well. If not, Mund will also stay put.
Mund's action is way at the end of the round, so he'll get a chance to see what others are doing.
There's almost no chance that the dragon will come down within melee range of Mund, but if he does, Mund responds in kind. Otherwise, Mund will shoot off an arrow.

Seeing how the dragon attacks, Kal instinctively seperates himself from the party. "Spread out, get some distance between us." He yells as he moves toward the far wall. As he gets in range, Kal will cast another MM.
OOC: Kal's moving directly "east", and firing off another missle.

Subject Round 2 actions
I assume you mean "east" relative to the battle map and not "east" as the real east.
Remember the battle map, for space reasons, is turned 90 degrees from the dungeon map.

Yea, right on the last map you sent out.

Mark, would it be possible to put a "N" in a block on the north wall when you send the map out again? I know that it would help me immensely in orienting what I want to do.
From: Mark
Subject Map
Do you mean Objective N? I mean real North, or North for just this map?
From: Josh

Who's on first?
From: Kevin

Real north. We can orient ourselves once we know that. The characters would know where north is (or at least what they are using for north in this unnatural construct).

IC: Harp watches as Allistairs ember flys forward, growing in size until it bursts atop the dragon. He had seen Allistair do this before, but Harp is still amazed at the power of the explosion. He sees the dragon engulfed in flames, the pain obvious.
Then, disaster. The dragon flys around the group, hitting them from the side. Salix and Ragnar seem affected a little, but Allistair takes the brunt of the icy breath of the small dragon. How can something that small cause so much damage. Worse, Harp's plan to keep everyone within range of Ragnar's circle of protection was backfiring. Instead of protecting everyone, especially Allistair, it was simply giving the dragon 1 target to aim at, instead of many. How could he have been so stupid? He should have known better. His eagerness to enter battle had clouded his judgement, and now it was costing his companions. Then Harp hears Mund and Kal shout, and start to move away from the gorup. They understood - too bad Harp had not until now. With a shout, Harp yells to the others "Salix, Ranthir, take your lead from Mund and Kal. Spread out from here and give that thing too many targets to choose from. I will stay with Ragnar and protect Allistair"
OOC: Mark, if Ragnar has not already provided some healing to Allistair, Harp will sacrifice his Bulls Strength to do so ( I forget which level of healing I get as a 2nd level, but I will use it). If Ragnar has, then Harp will just try to orient himself between the dragon and Allistair (meat shield is the appropriate term here).

Ranthir follows Harps order quickly and tries to get in range to release a crossbow bolt or 2 at the creature. He probably wouldn't hurt it much but it might provide some distraction to the beast and give his magic using friends an opportunity.

Surin takes a few cautious steps along the wall. The thought of staying in one place too long in this room makes him a bit nerous, but he trusts that the group can flush the thing back his way.
OOC: my original question still stands though--where is the dragon?
From: Mark
Subject Round 2 actions
Oh the dragon is obvious. He is up and where you see him.
He is flying around the room and moves very quickly if not too gracefully.

It is a bit late for this but I need to know what weapons, if any, every one has out and ready.

Kal's got his trusty Rapier.

If Salix is able to, he will move the flame sphere to hit the dragon again. If he can't get it to the dragon to actually hit it, he will move it as threateningly as possible trying to get the dragon's attention hopefully away from the group so as to generate some kind of flanking advantage.
(OOC - on that note, Salix can theoretically attack with the flame sphere, bringing it in from an angle opposite say, Mund's attack. Does that get a flanking advantage or give one to Mund? Or is that determined by where Salix is instead of where the sphere is? If the latter, oh well, but I think it's a minor absurdity caused by the letter of the rules.)
From: Karl
Subject Weapons
Can Salix cast with a weapon drawn? If not, he has none out. If so, then he *would* have had his sling out, but since I didn't say he took it out, that's your call. ;-)

Ran has his crossbow out.

Subject Round 2 actions
I will see what happens. The biggest problem is that if the dragon is more than 30 feet off the ground then the flame sphere can not reach it. Also the dragon flys much faster then the sphere can move. It is fire, however, and would keep the dragons attention.
From: Mark
Subject Round 2 actions
Since a sling can wrap around the wrist very easily I will let him have it out.
If someone uses their weapon in casting, such as a bladesinger, then having a weapon in hand is not a problem. I do not think that it says you need both hands to cast.

The announcement I sent to my co-workers:
My wife is having some pre-term complications. She and the baby are doing fine, but she has been put on bed rest. I don't know how much, if any, time I will need to take off in the next several weeks (her due date isn't until the middle of February), but the time that I will be working will probably be very erratic. At any specific time there is a good chance that I will be unavailable.
I'll participate as I can, but please don't hold up the game for me.
From: Mark

Thanks for the notice and best of luck to you and your wife and your kid(s).
I assume that Derek will be close in the loop as to the situation and if it is ok with you he can take over Mund when he knows you might not be available.
If that is ok with Derek.

Ragnar will cast spiritual weapon and direct it to attack the dragon. That's assuming it has no trouble hitting flying creatures, which I believe it doesn't.

Best of luck to you and your family. Take it easy and don't worry about Mund (who I think of as Decoy).

Well, Mund is way at the end of the initiative order, so it stands to reason that he should get to see what others (especially the dragon) are doing before he has to make this decision.
He currently has his axe readied, but if the dragon doesn't take the bait, he's going to drop it and pull out his bow.
From: Mark

Not as long as it is in range, which I do not see as being a huge problem.
You will have to make a Concentration check of DC=10+damage you took. If you fail the check then the spell goes by by.

Best wishes for you and yours Porter. Tell your wife yer D&D buddies are all wishing her the best. ;-)

Harp has his longsword out, having given his crossbow bolts to Ran back with the beetles. Harp will be more concerned with protecting Allistair. He will focus on healing some of Allistair wounds this turn, as well as trying to place himself between Allistair and the dragon as best he can (assuming Allistair is working with him to keep the big 1/2 with the sheild and plate mail between himself and the dragon - he should be able to get another fireball or a MM off and move around Harp - IF he wants to (wink, wink, nod, nod Derek).

Nevemind about moving around, then, if it'll mess up with the karma of the sneak attack. I was just afraid he was way on the other side of the room.

OOC: Mark, if the dragon stays in the air, Harp will follow Allistair to the door way, sacraficing his Bulls Strength and "covering" his way as best he can. If it lands within range, he will move toward it.
