Knowledge check: What does Salix know about elementals? I'm guessing he should know *something* since he can summon one. (Alas, only a little one).

I'm all for opening the doors, running away, and closing the outer door. Whatever happens, it should be more interesting than "kick open door, kick butt", which we've been doing for so long.

OOC: I would love to watch that combat, but I am afraid that staying in the room to watch would be detrimental to our health. I think the idea of making someone invisible, having them open the two doors, letting the heat and the water fight each other while invisible guy scurries out of the room. We then wait for the steam to settle and finish off the "winner". Now, if any of our smart people can plausibly come up with that idea, we will be in good shape.

That's exactly what I was talking about.
Some options for opening the doors:
Have one invisible person open both doors. Problem: Maybe the creatures inside can see invisible.
Have two people open the doors simultaneously. (one could be invisible)
Rig up some ropes so that they can both be opened simultaneously down the hall.
How much healing do we have left right now? None? Mund is definitely willing to "doorbell ditch", but he's injured right now. Of course, he'll instantly go up 10 HP when he rages, so that will help.

OOC: I think we need to find out what "we" can learn from Salix and Allistair. Between the two of them, hopefully they can "recognize" what these are and what abilities they have. We can set the plan accordingly. If we had a monk, I would use him since he could probably run 150' as a double move action (not sure if that is right, but they run faster than most folks). We just need to make sure our "characters" know what these things are.
We have scrolls, but minimal spell healing left.

Mund doesn't need to know more to like this idea. Knowing nothing about what's behind those doors, he still likes the idea.

Kal is a strong supporter of the idea and volunteers to open one of the doors.

Allistair did make the suggestion even before we had any idea of what was behind them, so I don't think it would be OOC at all to do that.

That's exactly what I'm responding to. Alley mentioned it, and Mund jumped on the idea.

Well, Salix does still have one 2nd lvl prayer left. And he can summon an elemental (small) with it. I imagine one of them could open a door.

Brilliant!
We could have Mund (the fastest character) invisible, ready to open a door. As soon as the elemental opens the other one, Mund will open his door and high-tail it out of there. Even if something can see invisible, it will probably pay more attention to the elemental that isn't running away than the human that is.

OOC:I think having Salix summon a water elemental, having it open the Hot Door, while an invisible Mund opens the Water door makes the most sense. The hot creature would probably respond to the water creature in front of it, and the water creature would respond to a small one of its kind being attacked by the fire creature (assuming that these are in fact those items. Mund high tails it out of there after opening the door, and maybe, just maybe he and Harp can watch from the door, ready to pull it closed if needed.
Man, I would really love to watch those two fight.

Hopefully Mark will let *us* know what happens even if our characters don't.

OOC: Props to Allistair for the idea. I just hope the knowledge rolls will allow us a reason to do this.

It would probably just make a lot of steam, instantly obscuring your vision. If you really want to see it up close though, Allistiar could cast rope trick, and we could all climb up and watch from the window, with the elementals below being completely oblivious to us.

That's one of the coolest ideas I've ever heard.

It sure is.

Well, I think even if the knowledge rolls don't tell us they are elementals, the fact that one is hot and one is "watery" would be clue enough that they may be opposites and could be enticed to battle each other.
Also, I was thinking that if a water elemental opens the door and attacks, even if the fact that it's a water elemental doesn't win the sympathies of the other water elemental (if that's what it is), the fire elemental (if that's what it is) might think our elemental is in league with the other one and attack it out of self defense.

OOC: Harp will get out his +2 swimsuit of tanning, just in case.
Where is the DM when you need him?
Oh, that right, meeting with Karl and the other Orney folks.
