Round 2 actions, round 2

From: Mark

Subject: Turn

It will probably be tonight before I get a turn out, after about 7:30.

Kevin and I have to go to a birthday dinner my parents are having for us.

From: Porter

Subject: Round 2 actions

OOC: Applying the brake was a move-equivalent action, right? Why didn't Mund get an attack last turn? Is it because he was busy drawing his axe?

IC: Mund sees Surin try to get behind E2, so he tries to keep that man's attention. "I tried to tell you I was busy, but no, you just wouldn't listen. Now, you hafta die." he says as he attacks.

From: Mark

Subject: Round 2 actions

Correct. As far as I know Mund does not have the quick draw feat, which means drawing(readying) his ax is a move action. Applying the brake was a move eq. action as well, so that was his two actions.

So I take it Mund is going to full attack the guys around him. That is what I needed to know.

From: Porter

Subject: Round 2 actions

That is correct.

Round 2

Init E1 (29), Kal (14), Mund (14), Surin (7), E2, E3, E4 (6), Ragnar (6)

"Arnen" shouts the man with the crossbow (E1) "Look out for the squeak to your left" as he reloads his weapon. Surin (AC20, 5+5=11, miss) hops to the side as a bolt buries itself in the dirt at his feet. "Take these guys" the man yells "and Faldor will reward us."

The man in front of Kal (E4) gives the elf a broken tooth smile. "Well elf, I'm going to have fun cutting you into little pieces. Unarmed enemies are my favorite types." With a movement that is almost too fast to see Kal has his weapon out and buried in the man's shoulder (AC16, 16+12=28, hit, damage 5). "Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not unarmed" is the elf's reply.

"I tried to tell you I was busy" says Mund as he grips his ax and lashes out with it "but no, you just wouldn't listen. Now you hafta die." Wanting to take them down quickly, Mund forgoes his shield and, gripping his ax in both hands and whispering "cold death" under his breath, swings a powerful over head blow to the man just in front (E2). The ax, ice forming on its blade, crashes into the man's shoulder and cuts a deep gash in flesh, blood spurting in Mund's face (AC16, 12+12=24, hit, damage 17). The barbarian pulls the freezing ax from the gaping wound and aims another blow at the man's neck (AC16, 19+7=26, hit, damage 11). The man drops his sword as he falls to the ground, his head attached to his neck by the few muscles that Mund has not severed.

Surin decides that Mund is taking pretty good care of the guys he is fighting and turns to give the guy in the door something to worry about. Pulling his ax from his belt he moves forward and, using his bodies momentum, hurls the ax at the man. The blade gleams in the pale torch light, it's balance and magic giving it added range (AC18, 5+13=18, hit, damage 2). The small blade hits the man and gets his attention, but does very little apparent damage. Oh shit, Surin thinks, why did I do that? "Mund" he yells over his back "I'm going to need a hand here in a bit."

Mund's foe swings his sword (AC18, 3+7=10, miss) and Mund dodges out of the way with ease. "Is that all you've got? You're gonna join your buddy here in a few seconds" the barbarian says.

Kal dances around his opponent, his rapier weaving an intricate pattern. The man makes a thrust and Kal blocks it. The man tries again and again the elf deflects the blow (AC21, 12+7=19, miss).

Down on the lift Ragnar checks to make sure Acer is still ok. He whispers to the old man "Don't worry, Nature father, Salix is our friend and we have sworn to save you. You do your bit and come back to us." Acer's eyes flutter a bit at this and open for a few seconds. In the dim light of the shaft Ragnar can briefly see a spark of life in the man's eyes, but then it goes away again.

In the tunnel Harp issues his commands"Salix and Ran, if they are human, we should be able to see them before they see us. We need to take advantage of that. We should be able to make use of this dark and attack them from the dark. Follow my lead. When I say go, charge them. Salix you follow and use your blessing while Ran and I attack. Ready? " Harp sees the other two nod. The ½ orc turns his face back down the tunnel, working out the speed of the others coming at them. One, two, three. "Now".

OODM: End round 2. I need round 3 actions. Harp, Mund, and Salix have the following Inits for round 3, Ranthir 23, Harp 17, Salix 10. This includes the +4 for Surprise. I did not have the two fighters charge in the surprise round because they have to move a certain amount to do a charge and a charge is a full round action. You can only do a standard action or a move action in a surprise round. Ally is actually very useless right now, since he is right near the lift and barely has any light. The guys coming down the tunnel are over 40 feet away and Mund's torch is up top. So he can not target people with spells.

From: Porter

"I'll be right with you, little one."

Mund will do a full attack on E3. If by dumb luck he kills him with one attack, he'll run over to E1.

From the bottom of the lift, Allistair tries to listen to both what's happening above and what's happening down the tunnel. His brother seems to be doing OK up there. His older brother sure caused problems sometimes, but he sure was handy to have around when things got dicey. So far, not much seems to be happening down the tunnel. Allistair decides to stay where he is for the time being.

Round 3

Subject: Round 3

Round 3

Init E1 (29), Ranthir (23), Harp (17) Kal (14), Mund (14), Salix (10), Surin (7), C1,C2, C3, C4 (7), E3, E4 (6), Ragnar (6)

Seeing that the halfling is unarmed and by himself the man gives a wicked grin. "I've never seen a zombie halfling before. Well there's a first time for everything." He drops his crossbow and pulls his sword as he charges Surin. Letting out a blood curdling yell the man brings his sword down (AC20, 6+11=17, miss) in a flashing arc. Surin spins as the blade falls and feels the rush of the air as the blade just misses cutting him in half. "Mund" he yells "Make it quick."

Down in the tunnel both Harp and Ran charge the approaching light at the same time. Out of the dark, quite death assaults the oncoming enemies. Ran strikes first, almost before his foe (C1) knows he is being attacked. The ½ elf swings (AC19, 19+12=31, hit, critical threat, crit threat roll, AC19, 2+12=14,miss, damage 9) and draws first blood.

The ½ orc moves with a speed that belies his size. Instead of an over head swing, he lunges with his blade (AC19, 14+14=28, hit, damage 9) at the man in front of him (C3). His sword cuts through the surprised man's armor and leaves a wide gash in his side.

Back up top Kal is grinning as he fights. He plays with the man (E4) for a bit and then thrusts home with his rapier again (AC16, 9+12=21, hit, damage 8). Kal closes with the man, and they both look down at the thin blade coming from his chest and Kal whispers to him "You're dead but you don't know it yet. It is just a matter of time." The man's eyes widen, a small look of fear entering them.

On the other side of the lift Mund growls deep in his throat. The little one was trying to take on one of these guys. Stupid. Swinging his ax at the man next to him (E3) (AC16, 18+13=31, hit, damage 15), the frozen blade cuts deep into the man's chest, shattering bone. Mund reverses his grip on the ax and brings the ax back around on his back swing. This time the man ducks and the blade flies past, just missing the head (AC16, 3+8=11, miss).

Down below Salix follows behind the charge of the two fighters. He stops just at the edge of the light and over the sound of the clash, offers up his prayer to Obad Hai. Calling on the heat of the earth that was used to forge the metal armor, he points at the three foes in the front line. He feels the power flow around him and lance out at the three men (Will save, DC15, C1 10+7=17, save, C2 12+7=19, save, C3 4+7=11, fail) but the power only effecting one of them.

"I'm too cute to be a zombie" the halfling tells the man (E1). With practiced ease, his rapier is in his hand faster then the man can react. Surin hops in and stabs at the man's thigh (AC16, 6+12=18, hit, damage 4). The point draws blood but does not do any serious damage.

Back down in the tunnel the armored men respond to Harp and Ran's attack with the ease of trained professionals. Ran opponent (C1) swings a heavy mace at his head (AC18, 12+6=18, hit, damage 6). The ½ elf is able to get his shield up in time but the crushing blow wrenches something in his shoulder.

The man in the middle (C2) turns his attention Harp. He swings his heavy mace at the ½ orc (AC18, 12+6=18, hit, damage 5) and catches Harp with a glancing blow to his helm.

Harp's other foe (C3) also swings his heavy mace (AC18, 10+6=16, miss) but Harp slides the blow to the side with his buckler.

Behind the three men in the front line the fourth latches his mace to his belt and grabs on to a small scythe on a chain around his neck. In a guttural sounding language, he starts to chant and points at Ranthir (Will save, DC 15, 20+6=26, save). Ran feels a power try and take control of his mind and his body. Remembering his training with his grand father, he focuses his mind and channels the invading thoughts into a section of his mind that he had set up for just this purpose. He hears the echoes of the thoughts as they get lost in the maze.

Back up in the barn Kal's enemy (E4) pushes the elf off and the rapier slides free. The man makes a feeble swing (AC21, 3+7=10, miss) which Kal dodges easily.

Mund's opponent tries (E3) makes a backhanded swing at Mund and catches the barbarian with the edge of his sword (AC18, 15+7=22, hit, damage 7). The man draws a gash down Mund's left arm, the blood tracing down his forearm.

Ragnar waits on the lift, trying to climb up but failing.

OODM: I need actions for round 4.

From: Josh

Subject: Round 4 actions

Kal frowns a little when the man swings at him. This wasn't even a challenge. Why would these men throw their lives away for this foul God?

He repositions himself to take advantage of a weakness that was left in the mans defenses from the last swing and attacks again.

Round 4 actions, round 4, magic weapons

From: Kevin

Subject: Round 4 actions

OO: sure would be nice if Kal could do more than 1d6 +? of damage each turn. This is like the death of a thousand paper cuts. Maybe a keen rapier would help - double your critical threat range to 15-20 would help some.

From: Mark

Subject: Round 4 actions

Sure is nice when your ally abandons you that you can dance around 6 enemies and not get touched. Must be the lack of all those bonus fighter feats and 18 STR. Oh wait, wasn't it Kal who took out 4-5 guards all by himself earlier? Yeah it was.

Run your own character.

From: Kevin

Subject: Round 4 actions

Harp steadies himself from the blow to his head. He had to stay focused. They had three enemies right in fron of them, and one that they couldn't get to. Damn, this was going to take a while.

Harp full attacks with attack 1 going against C2 and attack 2 against C3.

From: Kevin

OOC: I apologize to all. I got Kal's damage and Surin's damage confused in my mind. Kal did nearly as much as Harp and Ran.

From: Porter

Subject: Round 4 actions

OOC:

But not as much damage as Mund! Hahahah!!

--------

IC: "Kal, stop dancin' with him and kill him already! The little one's in trouble!" Mund yells, concerned for his friend.

"Don't bother trying to take him down, Surin, just keep youself alive until we can help you."

From: Randy

Subject: Round 4 actions

Ran will move over and attack C2 (assuming that this counts as moving within a threatened area (thus giving him +4 to his AC from his mobility bonus) He will apply his dodge point against C1.

OOC: Do I always have to specify my dodge point? I would assume that it would by default be applied against the person I am attacking (and thus should have saved me from the damage taken this round).

One other question. I was looking at my character sheet and noticed that my dexterity bonus is not being added to my armor class. Elven chain allows for a max dexterity bonus of +4 and so I think my +3 should be added to my A/C. Let me know if this is way off or what.

From: Randy

Subject: Round 4 actions

OOC: About the dodge being added to the armor class, I see now that I was wrong and it is working right. I forgot about the sapped level so sorry about that confusion.

From: Randy

Subject: Round 4 actions

I will take a look.

Making a 5 foot step does not provoke an AOO, so just stepping 5 feet to the side does not give you the mobility feat bonus. You would have to step back 5 feet and then move a diagonal square, which would be a move action of 10 feet and then you would get the bonus from the AOO from C1 and C2, since it is those threatened squares you are leaving. It does cost Ran one attack, since he can not move and make a full attack.

So your choices are to dance around, get +4 to AC, and get one attack, or take a 5 foot step, not get +4 to AC and get two attacks.

Let me know which one it is.

From: Mark

Subject: round 4 actions

Normally I would like you to specify, or at least remind me that you have a dodge point. If there is only one foe, I would know who to apply it against. When there are many enemies you should tell me.

From: Josh

Subject: Round 4 actions

Kal looks over at Surin. "If only there was a way to get him to come after me instead of him." Kal thinks to himself.

As his dance continues he lets his mind wander to one of his encounters with Mund. He repositions himself so he's facing toward Surin and his attacker and yells out

"Hey! Hey you! You're father's skrilka and you're mother's the town whore! I think Mund here had her 4 times last night, and that was before the half-orc got to her!"

He then distractedly attacks e4

OOC1: Kal will step to f5 so he's facing towards e1 before he throws his insult.

OOC2: Mund's a monster with that damage.

OOC3: Kevin: Oh yea, he also picks up two attacks next level. I've been dying for level 8 since we hit level 7.

From: Josh

Subject: Dodge

OOC: I forget my dodge bonus all the time too. Kal will apply his to e4 this round if he hasn't been already.

From: Bryan

Subject: Round 4 actions

As the man continues to hack away at Surin, he attempts to avoid the blows while landing some damage of his own. While he would like to have the larger fighter deal with this, he cannot afford to rely on Mund arriving in time.

OOC: I should be around over the next few days. However, I'm travelling, so I may be out of touch.

From: Randy

Subject: round 4 action

Ran will full attack for this round but I will keep that in mind if he gets beat up too much. He will attack C1 and use his dodge point on him as well.\\

From: Kevin

Subject: Round 4 actions

OOC: Mark, I have changed my mind. Harp is going to full attack C2. I don't know why I thought about spreading out my attacks. My normal plan is focus on one attacker until he is down, then focus on the next guy. Harp will do that.

From: Derek

I just got back from Japan yesterday. We're all currently jet-lagged out of our minds (I just got up first and it's 4 pm here) and it will take me a little while to read through the last couple weeks to see what's going on, so until then Porter can keep playing Ally, since it looks like you're in the middle of combat right now.

Round 4

Init E1 (29), Ranthir (23), Harp (17) Kal (14), Mund (14), Salix (10), Surin (7), C1,C2, C3, C4 (7), E4 (6), Ragnar (6)

The man (E1) swings down at Surin a second time(AC20, 4+9=13, miss) and Surin dodges out of the way again. "Does your boss at the crap workers guild know you're moonlighting as an incompetent fighter?" Surin taunts.

Ran refocuses his attention on the man (C1) in front of him. Harp and the wall would protect him from flanking, so all he had to do was fight. He strikes at the man with a low thrust (AC19, 6+10=16, miss). The man block the blow with his own sword. Ran tries to cut up from the block (AC19, 8+5=13,miss) only to meet the large steel shield with a loud clang.

Harp does a bit better. He powers an overhead blow (AC19, 12+12=24, hit, damage 14) and it crashes into his opponents (C3) shield. The blow almost drives the man to his knees and a snapping sound can be heard as his forearm breaks. Harp's second blow however (AC19, 3+7=10, miss) swings wide as the man dodges to the side.

Kal hears Surin's pleas for help. The little one was holding his own but it was only a matter of time before he missed a dodge. Moving to get a better view Kal calls out to the leader "Hey! Hey you! You're father's skrilka and you're mother's the town whore! I think Mund here had her 4 times last night, and that was before the half-orc got to her!" Kal then drives his rapier into the man fighting him, almost as an afterthought (AC16, 12+12=24, hit, damage 9). Again he slides the blade through the man and as they close the elf whispers to him again "Do you really want to die for your god?"

Mund yells out "Damn it elf, stop dancing with him and kill him. Surin needs help." With a grunt of effort he swings his ax two handed and lands (AC16, 8+13=21, hit, damage 14) a massive blow that almost cuts the man (E) in half. Using the momentum of his blow the barbarian propels himself forward until he is next to Surin. "Don't worry little one. No one is going to hurt you while I'm around."

Salix watches the fight progress. Harp is doing well but Ran seems to be suffering from whatever that wight did to him. He decides to wait and see how he can help them to most.

Surin give a big sigh when Mund shows up. He takes one more stab at the man (AC18, 7+12=19, hit, damage 2) and then backs a few feet away whispering "He's all yours big guy."

Ran's foe (C1) swings his sword at the ½ elf again (AC20, 12+6=18, miss). Ran catches the blow on his shield.

Another of the men in plate (C2) swings his sword at Harp (AC20, 4+6=10, miss). The ½ orc leans back a bit and the blow falls short.

The man Harp had been fighting (C3) steps back a few feet, sheathes his sword and pulls a vial from his belt. He pulls the stopper with his teeth and drinks the contents down. Several of the deep cuts close over in seconds and the man.

The man in the back row steps into the line, his sword swinging (AC20, 8+6=14, miss). Harp's armor clangs with the impact, but the holy armor holds firm.

Kal's foe (E4) pulls himself off the rapier and fear in his eyes, turns to run. Kal steps forward (AOO,AC16, 6+12=18, hit, damage 5) and runs the man through. As the man falls and Kal moves on he whispers something to the man that only the two of them can hear.

From: Mark

Subject: Magic weapons

Ok the guys in the tunnel do have heavy maces. Damage is the same as a sword so no loss there.

None of them hit Ran or Harp so this is just my brother whining again. Also readying a weapon does not provoke an AOO.

Round 5 actions

From: Kevin

Subject: RAW

OOC: This is just for arguements sake (because I like a good arguement). So, according to the RAW, in the middle of a combat, you can sheath your sword and draw another weapon with out provoking an AOO? I might agree that you could do so after taking a 5 ft step away, but if you are next to me and you are doing all that, I think I should get a free hit. Now, just dropping the first weapon, that ok, but sheathing it.... Have you ever watched those movies where the hardest thing to do is putting the sword BACK in the scabbard??

In this case, it is a moot point. It was just some confusion on which weapons the guys had out. But, in game mechanics, if the roles had been reveresed, and one of my characters had wanted to do those actions, you can bet your sweet bippy that an AOO would have occurred.

Have a great day all.

Round 5

Init E1 (29), Ranthir (23), Harp (17) Kal (14), Mund (14), Salix (10), Surin (7), C1,C2, C3, C4 (7), Ragnar (6)

The man Mund and Surin are fighting switches targets. A vicious backhanded blow catches Mund in belly (AC18, 11+9=20, hit, damage 11). His breastplate absorbs most of the force, but the barbarian feels a rib crack.

Down in the tunnel Harp calls "Ran". The ½ elf looks over at the ½ orc and Harp's eyes dart to the man in the middle. Months of fighting together as well as years of training in the Order helps Ran realize what Harp wants. Keeping an eye on the man in front of him, Ran feints at his own foe and then attacks the man in the middle (AC19, 2+10=12,miss). His first blow bounce harmlessly off of the heavy plate armor while his second blow (AC19, 13+5=18,miss) bounce off of the man's shield as he brings it around.

Harp takes advantage of Ran's distraction and thrusts with his sword (AC19, 12+12=24, hit, damage 13). He finds a gap where the front and back plates meet and his blade slides through, drawing a gasp of pain from the man. His second attack (AC19, 6+7=13,miss) skids off the heavy breastplate, leaving a deep gouge.

Kal kneels over the man he has just struck down. He says a prayer to the elven gods that the man's soul would not go to the dark place of Nerul.

Mund grimaces in pain. "You bought yourself a heap of trouble when you shot in the back, you cowardly dog" he says, his bloody ax whirling in both hands (AC18, 8+13, hit damage 14). The blade bites deep in the man's side, the armor just barely keeping him from being cut in half. He grunts in pain and raises his sword to block the blow coming at his head. He catches the ax blade on his sword blade (AC19, 1+8=9, auto miss) and deflects the ax into the ground.

Down in the tunnel Salix starts to chant the prayer to summon the swarms of nature. From deep down the tunnel the rushing sound of small wings comes towards them and a small breeze forms.

Surin sees that the man has his full attention on Mund, moving carefully behind the man, he jumps in with his rapier just as the man parries Mund's death blow (AC18, 13+14=27, hit, damage 18). He jabs the little weapon deep in the man's back and as the man falls Surin tells him "Pick on someone your own size next time."

OODM: The fight upstairs is over.

Ran's foe (C1) swings his mace at the ½ elf's head (AC21, 2+6=8,miss). Ran dodges out of the way with a twist.

The man in the middle (C2) moves back a few feet and pulls a potion from his waist, pulls the stopper, and swigs it down (Heal 10).

The third man (C3) touches the small scythe at his neck and chants the words to a spell. At the last word he shouts. Behind Ran a tremendously loud noise buffets him (Damage 7, Fort save, DC16, 13+7=20, save). Ran's ears ring but he is still able to fight.

The fourth man (C4) swings his mace at Harp (AC20, 16+6=22, hit, damage 7) and catches the ½ orc on the breastplate. The metal armor protects from having his chest caved in, but it hurt to breath now.

OOC - Salix can't direct the swarm specifically, right? He can just summon it and has to maintain concentration to keep it active, right? (It lasts 2 rounds after he breaks concentration, right?)

From: Mark

Subject: Swarm

Correct as to the duration.

As to the location:

You summon a swarm of bats, rats, or spiders (your choice), which attacks all other creatures within its area. (You may summon the swarm so that it shares the area of other creatures.) If no living creatures are within its area, the swarm attacks or pursues the nearest creature as best it can. The caster has no control over its target or direction of travel.

So you can start it where you want it but after that they stay there until there are no living creatures and then go to the nearest creature, WHOEVER it might be.

From: Karl

Subject: Swarm

OK, he will summon it to cover the cleric and whoever else it can (should be able to cover three of the 4 in their current placement). Salix will also call out to Ran and Harp, stay away from the bats. They are frenzied and won't care who they attack. He will then start backing away toward the lift, as long as he can do that without breaking concentration.

(OOC - Can he "dispel" the swarm, or will it unconditionally stick around for 2 rounds after he stops summoning.)

From: Mark

Subject: Swarm

from the way I read it they stay around as a swarm for two rounds. Then the bats will break off and the swarm will fade.

In this case the bats will not disappear, but will no longer be a swarm.

Ran will step into the gap and full attack C2.

Harp, watching Ran step between two opponents, grunts and takes a full attack against C4.

Allistair shouts up the lift, "The guys down here are under attack! We need some help!"

OOC: Ally's spells that he has left are 1 rope trick, 2 invisibility, 1 improved invisibility, 2 fly and 1 gaseous form. Would any of those be helpful in the current fight, or should Ally save them for 'getting out of Dodge' as soon as the battle is over?

From: Randy

Subject: Round 6 actions

Ran will use his dodge point on C2.

OOC: how long is the rope for the rope trick? Could we have used that to climb out of the shaft?

From: Mark

Subject: Round 6 actions

You could have but it would not have made a big difference. You could only have really climbed one at a time instead of 4 or 5 people at a time.

From: Kevin

Subject: Round 6 actions

Also, we would have come up 10' short. Rope trick is 10' per level, right? Ally is 7th, so it would have been 70' and the shaft was 80', right?

Or some variation of that. It might have been 40' deep and RP provides 35' of rope.

Mund is about to make a snide remark to Kal about praying while his betters are busy fighting when his brother cries out that the guys down in the tunnel are fighting as well.

"Coming right down!" Mund replies.

OOC: What are Mund's options for getting down fast? He's got a good jump, but lousy tumble check. Can he just jump down onto the platform and then jump down from the platform?

From: Josh

Subject: Round 6 actions

"They have Harp, Ran, Salix and Allistar. If they can't handle it for a minute or two us two going down isn't going to make things better; they'll need an escape route not support. The best thing we can do for them is get the stormfather up here to safety and then lower the lift down for them."

From: Mark

Subject: Round 6 actions

The platform fills most of the shaft. He can jump on the platform easily but there is no real way to go the rest of the way down.

Or he could lift the platform the rest of the way and Kal and Ragnar could lower him down.

All right. Mund starts lifting the platform back up.

Knowing that he will be of no major help getting the lift up, Surin will move out a little bit, keeping to the shadows and scouting for any potential adversaries.

Round 6

Init: Ranthir (23), Harp (17), Kal (14), Mund (14), Salix (10), Bat swarm (10), Surin (7), C1, C2, C3 C4 (7), Ragnar (6).

Ran decides to press the attack. Stepping into the gap between the two men in front Ran slashes at the man in the middle of the back row (C2) (AC19, 11+10=21, hit, damage 5). He connects with a solid blow and follows up with another attack that leaves the man reeling (AC19, 17+5=22, hit, damage 5).

Harp grimaces when he sees Ran step into the breach. His friend was almost surrounded now. He had to do what he could to help him out. The ½ orc launches a vicious thrust (AC19, 1+12=13, auto miss) but over reaches and almost looses his balance. He takes half a step forward to regain his balance and strikes again (AC19, 8+7=15, miss). However he is still too off balance to connect.

Up top Mund growls to Kal "Get over here and help me get this thing to the top. They need our help down there." As Kal moves to help work the lift he tells Mund "They have Harp, Ran, Salix and Allistair. If they can't handle it for a minute or two, us two going down isn't going to make things better; they'll need an escape route not support. The best thing we can do for them is get the Stormfather up here to safety and then lower the lift down for them." Mund releases the brake and the two start to crank the lift to the top.

Back down in the tunnel one of the men in the back row (C3) starts yelling in pain. He is screaming about being burnt alive. Over this the rushing sound of leathery wings starts to fill the tunnel as thousands and thousands of bats start to fill the tunnel. Salix yells out "Ran, Harp stay away from the swarm. Let's get out of here. Use them to cover your retreat." Salix concentrates on the sort of hive mind that is forming within the swarm, putting the image of the four men in plate.

The bats surround the four, landing on them, climbing over them, biting them. The men try and protect themselves but the diminutive creatures find small gaps in their armor and attack (Damage C1=2, C2=6, C3=4, C4=3)

Surin moves around the barn, making sure that they are alone. The wagon and horses are just where they left them.

Down in the tunnel the four men in armor seem not to be confused by the swarm (Fort Save, DC11, 19+6=25, save, 14+6=20, save, 17+6=23, save, 20+6=26, save) and attack it with their maces. The heavy blunt weapons crash through tiny bodies, hundreds dropping with every swing (AC16, 14+6=20, hit, 14+6=20, hit, 17+6=23, hit, 13+6=19, hit, total damage 19). Almost as fast as the bats had appeared they break off. Salix feels the nascent mind splinter off and the creatures return to their normal state.

Up in the barn Ragnar opens the gate and carries Acer off the list. Mund is on the lift in a heart beat "You two" he says pointing at Kal and Ragnar "lower me down, now." The elf and the dwarf move to the wheel and set it to lower.

OODM: End round 6. I need round 7 actions. The red area on the map show where the swarm was.

Kal and Ragnar begin to lower the lift. As Mund begins his decent Kal says, "Don't stay and fight if there's any risk of getting out numbered. Retreat to the lift and we'll get you all out of there."

Harp growls again in anger. Damnit, they had to do better than that. The bats hadn't helped, there were still 4 foes left, and they had done very little damage to these guys. Ran was surrounded. He had to step back "Ran get back from between those guys"

Harp will again full attack C4. Maybe he will even hit something this time.

From: Randy

Ignoring Harp, Ran continues to press the attack on the man in the middle. He dodges, doing his best to avoid the blows coming from his target.
