Subject: Flavius and Kal

After dinner finishes Kal walks up to Flavius who has sat sullenly through dinner, certainly dreading his coming punishment. After a short conversation Kal offers this advice.

"Take the punishment with dignity, and you will be a stronger man for it. It may seem unjust to you, but the Gods test us in strange ways. Bear the whip tomorrow and stand proudly afterwards. It's the only choice you have."

Shortly after Kal returns to the party, and soon after leaves the barracks to walk in the nearby woods.
