Lots of Opinions

"Did you see the donkey still attached to the wagon, Rennick?" Pensive asks. "It must be either a very light wagon, or a very strong donkey. . . In any case, I cannot imagine that spooking the donkey would draw out more than two or three foot soldiers, and less than that if it is not connected to the wagon in any way. That's assuming we can get it scared enough to get it out of the dugout before someone stops it."

He rubs his forearms, feeling the silk cords there beneath his sleeves. "If we can destroy the wagon and the alchemist, I think we must do so. Even if it does alert the witch, we will have removed their capacity to produce whatever potion it is that's allowing her to raid the front lines."

Actually, he is a half orc, but not a major point.

Other than the fact that the half orc's favored class is barbarian, so that will tell you something of his fighting style.

Ty, Noemon : Will searing light cause things to catch fire?

The Open source doesn't say anything about it causing fire damage, so likely it doesn't. I thought I'd ask, since we need some mercy.

Anyway, the range is pretty incredible. If we can catch the wagon on fire with that searing light spell, that'd be awesome, and would make this assault go much more smoothly.

Just when a Fireball would come in handy. :(

Twinky were are you when we could really use you.

OOC: So, Ty's answer was a no. Not a 'no,' so simply-- methinks I heard virtual maniacal laughter in between the lines of his email.

That said-- doesn't Garyth still have some vials of alchemist's fire on him? Will alchemist's fire cause things to catch fire, or does it just burn living tissue?

IC:

Pensive continues, hoping he's not stepping on anyone's toes. "We have a number of good archers-- if we can get within range of the wagon with lighted arrows, we may be able to set the alchemist's work on fire."

OOC: Jake's turn, reposted from sakeriver.

Osred spits, sending a thick ropy mass of saliva flying a surprising distance. "Hmm. Well, I was saving it for the bitch, but if I can get within, say, a hunderd fifty, hundred sixty feet of the brute I can freeze him in his tracks for a time, Hieroneus willing."

"I agree that we need to take this wagon out, but I'd rather do it without drawing the witch's attention. No reason to fight her and her goons at the same time, if we can help it, and if she comes back here not expecting a fight, so much the better. I say we avoid fire entirely, if possible. Besides, might be something we could use in that wagon."

For a moment, a vision of black tentacles rising from the earth floats across Garyth's mind. Huge, writhing monstrosities, flailing and crushing anything in reach. He blinks.

"It's too dangerous to risk bringing the witch back before we're ready for her. You remember what she can do," he says to Rennik. "If you can get us into position, we should have enough bows to thin their ranks some before they even know what hit them." He balks a moment at the thought of attacking an enemy unaware. They had tried this once before, and the results were... But no, this is different. These men are no innocents. They are soldiers in the Soul Drinker's army, and there is no other way to stop them from destroying Overlook.

"If we attack them from hidden positions, they will have no choice but to leave their cover to look for us. It draws them out and gives us a chance to hurt them without the warning that a diversionary tactic might allow them." He looks at Rennik and Melani. "Can you get us into position in time?"

Melani listens to the guardsman and looks at Rennik. They talk in halfling for a bit and then they nod.

Melani thinks to herself, "If only we could wait until dark. I bet I could get in there and take out several of the guards before they even knew I was there. This openess is discerting. I don't like not having a lot of trees to hide in.

OOC: Ready to go.
